An article published in the New York Times on July 24 details a pattern of surprise bills after emergency care in certain hospitals, drawing on research by Fiona Scott Morton, the Theodore Nierenberg Professor of Economics at Yale SOM, and Zack Cooper, an assistant professor of public health and assistant professor of economics at Yale.


A major research collaboration led by Yale SOM Professor Rodrigo Canales and involving Yale SOM, Mexico’s National Commission for Security, the Mexico City Police Department, and Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) will study how to create effective, resilient, and trusted police organizations in Mexico.


New faculty joining Yale SOM in 2017–18 include two senior finance scholars and junior faculty in organizational behavior, economics, and finance. 


The Collaborative on Urban Resilience and Effectiveness, known as CURE, seeks to connect faculty experts for research and curriculum development. Participants met at Yale earlier this month.
